IntroducinG A POSSIBLE world FUture

For an entertaining and provocative read, step into the word of Sundown: Engineering Gives the Devil a Sunburn, the first in my new three-part series. When the body of the Vice President of the United States is left on the steps of City Hall, NYPD Detective Nick Garvey, is assigned to the case. The year is 2057, and the US, like the rest of the world, has long since stopped functioning as an independent nation. Oil is scarce, policing has largely been relegated to neighborhood vigilantes, and the shadowy World Council appears to be pulling all the strings.

Nick hopes to finish his investigation before President Lenora Allison oversees the lighting ceremony of an enormous overhead grid that covers most of Manhattan and is slated to capture enough energy from the sun to light the city. But the grid, Nick soon learns, has been sabotaged, and investigating its enemies puts Nick's own family at risk. What will happen next? Stay tuned for the next book in this three-part mind-bending suspense series.

About Carl H. Mitchell

I've had a penchant for writing from a very young age. My first serious read was Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Another book that sparked my imagination was The End Of Eternity  by Isaac Asimov. At 30 years old, however, my writing took a backseat as I wasn't able to support my family by writing alone.

After working for IBM for more than 35 years as an engineer, programmer, and manager, I retired and went back to my first love. I resumed writing short stories and eventually transitioned to novels like Sundown: Engineering Gives the Devil a Sunburn.

I was born in Hollywood, California. I earned my bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. My  wife, Maryann, and I live in Hillsborough, New Jersey, where my favorite pastimes are downhill skiing and Koi collecting. I own more than 100 of these fish. However, after reviewing a year's worth of bills for fish food and pond maintenance it might be more accurate to say the Koi own me.
